Entry Requirements for Studying in Germany

  • Academic Records: You would need transcripts and certificates demonstrating strong academic performance in 10+2 and undergraduate-level education (for master’s applicants). Discipline-relevant skills and achievements help.
  • English Language Proficiency: While many undergraduate programs are predominantly in German, most graduate programs require IELTS 6.5+ or TOEFL 80+ scores to apply. Some accept alternate English tests too.
  • Entrance Examinations: For particular master’s degrees, specialized admission tests may be required, like the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, etc. Prepare adequately for relevant exams.
  • Bachelor’s Pre-Requisites: For master’s programs, completing the German Diplom, a specialized 4-5 year undergraduate degree, is often necessary. If you hold a 3-year bachelor’s, additional prerequisites may apply.
  • Finances: You need to verify financial coverage for the program duration, through bank statements, scholarships, etc., when applying for the student visa.
